Johnson County Case.net Search Modes

No Missouri eFiling account is needed to search Case.net. E-filing is a separate, authenticated system for lawyers and authorized filers. Public docket search runs on the statewide Case.net layer instead. Official public materials describe four useful modes. These are name, filing date, case number, and Scheduled Hearings & Trials. Use the last mode when the question is a future Johnson County docket setting. Name or case-number search fits a case history better.

Inside a Johnson County Court Docket

A Johnson County docket is a chronological register. It is not the whole case file. The Case Header usually lists the case number, filing date, court or division, case type, parties, and status. Docket Entries then place later events in date order. A public document hyperlink may open a filed item. When no link appears, there may be no attachment, or the item may not be available to that viewer.

Case HeaderBasic case identity, court, division, parties, filing date, and status.
Docket EntriesDated filings, settings, hearings, orders, and disposition events.
SettingA scheduled proceeding. It is not proof that the hearing occurred.
Document linkA possible public attachment, subject to file security and confidentiality.
ECASE markerAn electronic case file indicator, not a guarantee that every document is remotely viewable.

Treat a motion as a request until a later order or ruling shows up. A closed, dismissed, or disposed label needs the entry history and any order for context.

Johnson County Docket Entries Without PDFs

A Johnson County docket entry without a PDF is not automatically a missing filing. Missouri File Viewer guidance gives three reasons. An entry may have no attachment. It may be confidential, or sit behind case or document security. Older public documents have another route. The county records page says documents before July 1, 2023 can be viewed on public-access terminals at the Justice Center.

Pull together the case number, document type, division, and approximate date first. Then read the entry closely. Ask the Circuit Clerk whether the item is public. Use the terminal if the clerk points you to an in-person public view. A written request for a document or copy can go through the county's Request a Record form.

Courts That Keep Dockets in Johnson County

The county's general trial court is one court. It is the Circuit Court of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit, Johnson County, Missouri. Its Circuit Clerk maintains official Associate and Circuit Court records. The county clerk page also names that office. It keeps proceedings for Centerview, Chilhowee, Holden, Kingsville, Knob Noster, and Leeton municipal courts. Warrensburg handles its own municipal information. It routes docket search to the Missouri courts system.

The county's Prosecuting Attorney page puts that office at the Justice Center with other court-facing county functions.

Johnson County Justice Center Docket Access

For in-person Johnson County docket access, go to the Justice Center at 101 W. Market Street in Warrensburg. The building houses the Circuit Clerk, circuit and associate judges, and the prosecutor. Public-access areas and courtrooms are there too. Posted weekday hours run 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The county lists the phone number 660-422-7413. Confirm holiday closures and terminal location with the clerk.

The official Justice Center facility page describes controlled public entry and three modern courtrooms.

Start at the clerk or public-access area. Then follow the division or courtroom directions. Keep in mind that local rules restrict phones, laptops, cameras, and recording around Johnson County courtrooms except for specified authorized uses.

How to Find Court Dates and Settings

For a known case, open the Case.net docket first. Check its Docket Entries and current setting information. Scheduled Hearings & Trials Search offers a statewide route. It finds a future event by date and court parameters. If the record seems unclear or a reset may have happened, call the Circuit Clerk at 660-422-7413. A public terminal also helps when an older electronic record needs in-person viewing.

A calendar entry lists date, time, judge, location, case number, and setting type. It does not tell you the result. Labels like arraignment, pretrial, motion, law day, trial, traffic hearing, and ordinance hearing mark the setting type. What actually happened comes from the later docket entry, order, or disposition. Warrensburg municipal court usually holds Tuesday sessions. A summons or specific notice still controls.

The Johnson County Court Dates page details the setting fields and the documented calendar routes.

Johnson County Docket Resets and Notices

For a Johnson County case, the latest docket entry beats an old calendar printout every time. Cases move. A docket can list an earlier setting. A continuance or reset may follow, and finally a newer setting controls. Missouri municipal-clerk guidance describes a calendar as a list drawn up shortly before court convenes. That tight timing is why a saved list of court dates goes stale. An accurate day-one printout still fades.

Setting
A date and time assigned for a court event.
Continuance or reset
A moved setting that should be read with the latest docket entry.
Law day
A local setting that can include pleas, sentencing, or pretrial work.
Disposition
A case or count outcome, distinct from a scheduled hearing.

Track This Case sends qualifying users email notices. Those emails are not official court notices, though. If one conflicts with an online docket result, follow the summons or court order and call the clerk.

Public Access to Court Dockets

Missouri opens many Johnson County dockets to the public through Case.net, a clerk counter, public equipment, and a request route. Access still has limits. Juvenile, mental-health, sealed, closed, and otherwise confidential records may be missing from a name search or show restricted fields and documents. Even a public case can hold a confidential filing. And a missing name result is never a ruling on the merits of a case.

Missouri court-record rules:

Court Operating Rule 4 requires public indexes and equipment while excluding confidential records.

RSMo § 610.026 sets a paper-copy benchmark of up to ten cents per qualifying page plus certain actual research and duplication time.

RSMo § 509.520 limits personal identifiers in court filings.

RSMo § 610.120 addresses public access to closed records.

When part of a requested court record is closed, ask the clerk whether the open portion can be segregated and released. Respect that boundary rather than hunting for a workaround through some other source.

Johnson County Older Docket Documents

Johnson County draws a clear line between a web docket and older electronic documents. The county records page states that documents before July 1, 2023 are open to public viewing on terminals at the Justice Center. That is not a promise that every older item is public. But it does give you a documented in-person option when Case.net shows a docket entry with no image you can pull up remotely. The county's record-request source lays out the general county process and sends court-record users to Case.net first.

Give the clerk or the form the exact case number, court or division, document type, and time period. Vague requests slow everything down.

Docket Records at the Clerk's Office

Marcy Anderson is the Johnson County Circuit Clerk named on the county's official page. Her office keeps the official Associate and Circuit Court records plus the municipal proceedings listed for the county. Need a certified judgment, a plain copy, an answer about the public terminal, an older file, or something Case.net cannot finish? This is the office to contact. Remember that a browser printout is not a certified court copy.

Before sending payment, the clerk can explain the difference between a public viewing request, a plain copy, a certified copy, and an exemplified record. Knowing the options saves you money.

Johnson County Docket Request Details

The county's general form includes a Court Record selection. It also asks for a specific description, time period, contact method, delivery choice, and contact details. Closed portions can be segregated on request. That way the open remainder can be released. For a court record, start with the case number if known. Add the case type, the approximate year, the docket entry or document you need, and the format you want. No current Johnson-specific certified-copy or search-fee schedule appears on the county's page. RSMo § 610.026 sets a state benchmark, not a promised local price. Call the clerk before mailing payment. Ask about the current charge, delivery method, turnaround, and any authorization requirement.

Johnson County Courthouse Location Change

Johnson County's historic courthouse at 300 N. Holden Street is closed for renovation. Court-facing public activity now centers on the Justice Center, and county announcements place temporary offices at the Reese Education Building, 301 W. Market Street. If you have older directions pointing to the historic courthouse, confirm the current location before heading out for a hearing or a records request. The official Historic Courthouse page documents the renovation along with the building's 1896 to 1898 history.

The historic address still belongs to county history. But during the posted renovation, it is not the dependable walk-in spot for a docket.

Johnson County Municipal Docket Routes

Johnson County's municipal docket map is uneven. Warrensburg posts detailed city court, traffic bureau, and hearing information. Yet its docket search links lead into the Missouri courts system. The Circuit Clerk lists Centerview, Chilhowee, Holden, Kingsville, Knob Noster, and Leeton among the municipal proceedings the county office maintains. So even where a city has a local contact, Case.net and the clerk remain the common fallback. Knob Noster deserves extra caution. Official October 2025 city minutes describe a plan to eliminate its municipal court. The end date is November 2025. For anything after that transition, check with the Circuit Clerk or Associate Division. Do not assume the old city session pattern still holds.

The county judges source works well as an official starting point for court structure. For records themselves, the clerk is still the contact.

Johnson County Court Dockets by City

The five incorporated places below rank as the top five by 2020 Census population. Each has its own local route. Yet every city page keeps the countywide Case.net and Circuit Clerk fallback in view. A city hall or city clerk can answer ordinance or local-contact questions. That does not always mean it holds the court docket itself.

Map and Directions to the Johnson County Justice Center

Circuit and Associate Circuit Court files are kept at the Justice Center, 101 W. Market Street, in downtown Warrensburg, along with the Prosecuting Attorney's office and public-access terminals. The building holds three courtrooms, a secure bailiff station, and a Juvenile Office and detention area in the basement. The county's historic courthouse at 300 N. Holden Street, two blocks east, is closed for renovation, so the Justice Center is the reliable walk-in location for a docket question or record request.
